Custom Lumber Manufacturing (CLM) has been in business for over 25 years, specializing in a full array of Cypress products, including Boards, Patterns, Lumber, and Timber. CLM focuses on producing VOLUME CYPRESS for the WHOLESALE DISTRIBUTION CHANNEL, and CLM’s product and service portfolio includes kiln drying, surfacing, patterns, resawing and sizing. CLM sources its Cypress from Exclusive Sawmills, Partner Sawmills, and the Open Market, ensuring of over One Million Board Feet on the ground, with this footage in varying stages of Air-Drying, Kiln Drying, Production, and Finished Goods. CLM’s plant assets include 4 Dry Kilns, 5 Weinig molders, 5 smaller molders, 2 resaws, a gang rip, and a cut-up line. As a participating member of the Southern Cypress Manufacturers Association (SCMA), CLM is dedicated to the continuance of the Cypress resource.

Cypress is considered a “betweener” regarding softwood or hardwood. Cypress trees are softwood conifers, yet shed foliage in the fall like hardwoods. Cypress Design Values are sponsored by the Southern Pine Inspection Bureau (SPIB), yet Appearance Grades are published by the National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA). Cypress is the most affordable of three North American naturally oiled softwoods, the other two being Cedar and Redwood, making it a good choice for wood that’s exposed to moisture conditions causing decay, in exterior coated applications such as siding, fascia, soffits, trim, decking, fencing, posts and timbers. Because Cypress also machines well, resists warping and splitting, and glues, sands and finishes well, it is suited for interior uses such as paneling, moulding, millwork, cabinetry and flooring.
