Western Red Cedar Timber

Silvermere Forest Products
of British Columbia, Canada

This Western Red Cedar (real Thuja Plicata) is sawmilled in the heart of Cedar Country in southern British Columbia, where the logs are big, red and brown, and shipped via rail car or pig van or truck to Wholesale Distributors and OEMs. Western Red Cedar, because it is a naturally oiled wood, is an excellent choice when all-weather performance and moisture–decay–insect resistance is desired. WRC is dimensionally stable, with minimal shrinkage, is lightweight, and is easy to cut, glue and finish.

Silvermere Forest Products (SFP) specializes in sawing Large Rough Green Cedar Timbers, and has outsourced capabilities for surfacing and sizing. Sawing Structural Joists and Planks, and Beams and Stringers, and Posts and Timbers, SFP’s capabilities range from as small as 3×4’s to as large as 24×24’s, with lengths possibly as long as 48’. Further, SFP produces a #1 Structural Grade, as per NLGA rule #s 124b., 130b., and 131b., thereby providing greater engineering values than a #2+Btr or #2 Appearance graded timber, with superior Fibre Bending and Modulus of Elasticity, which enables designing for greater span or strength requirements.

SFP also has production capability for Shakes and Shingles, primarily 18” Perfections.
